Hello October!

Can you believe it is already October?

This month we are focusing on kindness.

This month we are focusing on Outrageous Acts of Kindness.

Have you ever experienced a random act of kindness?

From a stranger?

From a friend?

How did it make you feel?

Wikipedia says that a random act of kindness is: “a selfless act performed by a person or persons wishing to either assist or cheer up an individual… There will generally be no reason other than to make people smile, or be happier.”

I feel like random acts of kindness are less random, but more impulsive or spontaneous done.

If I choose to pay for the person in the car behind me in the drive-thru at Chick-fil-a, it is an impulsive act.  Although it is impulsive to me, the blessing is even more spontaneous for the person behind me.  What I love about random acts of kindness… they always surprise both of us.  The person who receives their order without paying is caught in a moment of awe.  I am also caught in a moment of awe.  Mine moment feels good and I can not wait to do it again.  Generosity feels good.

Be generous. Give to those you love; give to those who love you, give to the fortunate, give to the unfortunate — yes, give especially to those you don’t want to give. You will receive abundance for your giving. The more you give, the more you will have!– W. Clement Stone

When we give to others it blesses us.

Random or Spontaneous Acts of Kindness are essential to our well-being. Being generous keeps us from selfishness and obsessions with ourselves. When we give without expectation, it is the truest powerful act of generosity.

( Yes, I happen to think God honors it and brags on us to the rest of heaven.)

We may feel like we have little to offer to anyone else.

Outrageous Acts of Kindness is not about stuff.  It is about sharing your time, energy, and resources with others to show them you care.

Last night as I stopped at a traffic light, there was a guy dressed in camo with a backpack holding a cardboard sign.  His sign said, “Smile, You are Beautiful!”  My daughter in the back seat just smiled and waved at him.

Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end. –Scott Adams

My challenge for you this year is to join me in doing daily acts of kindness for others the entire month of October.

Then come back here and tell me what you did and how it makes you feel.

Why am I challenging you to do this?

  1. We have the power to change someone’s life for the better because you chose to care.
  2. When we practice acts of kindness it brings us joy.
  3. What goes around comes around.
  4. There is a lot of research on the health benefits of showing kindness to others.

Are you willing to be outrageously generous this month?

What will your Outrageous Acts of Kindness be?
